Sfaka is a small mountain village in the municipality of Sitia with a large hillside church, several small shops and kafeneons and is on the bus route from west to east. The towns of both Ierapetra and Sitia, both within a 25 minute drive, provide all main amenities including supermarkets, banks and medical facilities. The airport at Sitia is within a 30 minute drive, whilst the international airport at Heraklion can be reached within 90 minutes.

Nearby Mochlos is a small unspoiled fishing village with a quiet bay, harbour area, delightful waterfront tavernas and small rocky beaches.
